Annual Free Throw Tournament

The annual Free Throw Tournament this year generated a lot of interest from the parents and participants. We had over 32 participants (boys and girls) in the age range of 9-14. The venue for this year’s event was the gymnasium at the San Ruiz Lorenzo School, Mississauga.

The proceedings commenced with a prayer led by the GK Edwin D’Cruz for a successful, safe and fun event for all participants. Fr. Joshua Roldan, Associate Pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish gave a short speech to the participants and parents who came to support them. Later on, Fr. Joshua was called upon to give out the certificates to all participants and the winners in each age group were given a Champion’s Certificate along with a Plaque.

This successful event was Chaired by Nigel D’Souza and Co-Chaired by Darryl Alves and were ably supported by their committee members. The GK thanked all participants, parents and knights from the council who braved the cold to support the event.

FAN (Fraternal Activity Night) Jan 24, 2014

I am very pleased to inform you that we had an interesting, pleasant and an enjoyable evening at our second Fraternal Activity Night (FAN) of the fraternal year Friday, January 24. We had over 72 knights who attended the event, which was a combination of a business presentation by knights who own or work for a company (real estate, consulting, leisure travel, guitar learning, mortgage specialist, lawyer for wills estates, wood-work and several others) whereby they were given the opportunity to speak about their business and to enlighten us. They were also provided with booths. 

Bro. Alan Pires, Fraternal Advisor and his "Friday Night Basement Band" jammed during the evening entertaining the knights with some great music. A number of knights also sang along with the FridayNight Basement Band. 

Fr. Susairaj Savarimuthu, Associate Pastor who graced the occasion and very supportive of the knights said the grace before all enjoyed the roast beef meal prepared by Florence and PGK Vivian Pereira who is also the council’s Lecturer.

During the evening the knights had the opportunity to network,visit the booths and play a number of games. The event was chaired by PGK Valens Almeida and was ably supported by his committee members. Our grateful thanks to all of the above, brother knights and committee members who worked hard to make the FAN event a successful one. Your feedback by email or verbally to me, on how we should conduct the next FAN would be most useful. We are looking to inviting spouses and making it a combination of an educational coupled with a fun and relaxed evening.

Free Throw Tournament

 

The Knights of Columbus is organizing its annual Free Throw Tournament for girls and boys from ages 9 to 14 on Saturday, January 18, 2104 at the San Lorenzo Ruiz School, 100 Barondale Dr., Mississauga (Hurontario/Barondale intersection). The tournament will commence @ 8.30 a.m. sharp.
